I've been tracking this project since its inception with great interest (and admiration!) — and am starting to get the feeling like it might be reaching the tipping point in terms of possibly being a better solution overall than jailbreak/5.0.2/ATVPlex.
But while reading through the changelogs and FAQ gives me a pretty good sense of what stuff is currently working, it doesn't quite paint a complete picture of what a transition to PlexConnect would really entail — I think what I'm looking for is a list of what will be known to *break* at this point. Then I could decide whether or not it's right for our living room yet.
(There's a [known issues](https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Known-issues) page, and a [roadmap](https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Roadmap), but they're both currently empty.)
Grab the v0.1 version - it should work with your aTV (pre 5.1) - and take a testride (ok, UI is not that great... but fully functional)! No need to alter your aTV just now.
With 0.1 you should be able to give it a full test drive, even though the UI improvements will only come to 5.1+ (this is a limitation of the firmware).
We are nailing down the roadmap at the moment so you should be able to get a better idea of when to jump onboard when you see this and decide what is important to you (for a lot of users it is good enough to use as their main device now).
Thanks a ton, guys -- that's exactly what I needed to know. Wasn't entirely sure if test driving it on 5.0.2 would give me the whole picture, but I'll give it a shot.

I can second this on the spouse acceptance factor :), my wife has been using PlexConnect for about 3 weeks now, and other than the "well the screen looks a little different" comment, she has been just happy, my plex setup may be pretty simple as I am only using it for movies and shows no channels at all. But when it comes to passing the spouse factor, my wife's bar for acceptance is pretty high, so I say go for it mate.
Yeah, we don't use any channels either, so that part's simple.
We do like to check out the Trailers app every now and then, so we'll have to see how the IMDB channel does at replacing that. (Would be great if PlexConnect could include a "pass-through" of sorts to allow the original content to also be displayed somehow, but that might be technically impossible, I suppose.)

Yeah, that's the only bummer, what I do then is just use the trailers app on my phone/ipad and airplay to my atv3 at that point.
