SSL Certificate Errors

Here’s the announcement:

Of importance:

If your smart TV app has trouble connecting to a Media Server after September 30th, please ensure that both the app and the server are set to allow insecure connections: On the TV app*, ensure that Settings -> Advanced -> Allow Insecure Connections is set to Always, and on the server, ensure that Settings -> Network -> Secure connections is set to Preferred.

@Morphy

Change the app settings as detailed above

This doesn’t work for Rasplex :man_facepalming:… I’ve:

  • set “disable secure connections” on the server side
  • published the manual local LAN URL with “http://” to my Plex server
  • rebooted twice everything

Still, Rasplex doesn’t work since yesterday.

@brumbear

Can you add its IP address to allow it to run without auth?

Where? Player or server? I can’t see any such setting at the player.

Server: Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced - List of IPs , blah blah

Solved it ( locally ) :slight_smile: cheers @ChuckPa

:adhesive_bandage: always works .

I’ve added 10.30.30.0/24, saved, rebooted server, rebooted player: nothing :tired_face:.

Is the CIDR notation recognized here?

UPD1: I’m trying /255.255.255.0 right now…
UPD2: Didn’t work…

Rasplex may have fallen below the line. I will ask.

Please please please, fix this somehow! We use these RasPlex devices as the only/central players in the heart of our media-centers, for audio/video/TV, as they are so perfect from every aspect, reacting to the beamer-remote, running day/night/365/always, never any issues, having SSH etc.

Thank you!

Here’s the text (quoted) from one of the Ninjas.

I managed to get my RasPlex working again. Had to set Secure Connections to disabled, then manually enter a server IP address in RasPlex and then sign out and sign back into Plex in RasPlex. It will connect to that server at least.

WARNING: Setting as “Disabled” disables ALL HTTPS – Caution is advised.

Follow up:

The team is trying variations on how to unlock (remove the old cert from) RasPlex and get over this hump.

EDIT: For any of you with the RPi , it should (theoretically – which is what needs to be tried) possible to remove the cert from the CA bundle.

Please can I just check my issue is among what’s being discussed here. For the last 24 hours, I haven’t been able to see my server files from OpenPHT, but I can still access them from my TV app.
From what I understand above, something has changed behind the scenes that isn’t addressable from my end, and rolling back to the old server version won’t help? (As somebody said above I rarely update for exactly this reason.)
My server logs say the certificate is valid. I do have the issue with Remote Access toggling off and on, but I don’t think that’s the root of my problem as I’m entirely on my own LAN.

Hi, got same issue as posted here, unable to get external access working, can you try reseting my cert please? Thanks

Have you restarted Plex within the past 90 minutes?

I ask because the team was able to fix all the jammed up problems in the EU-West Plex server (fallout from the Let’s Encrypt change)

I suggest this because Remote Access is working again. Restart seems to be the answer when the certs are valid (which they have been now for the past 18 hours)

@jammytea @LavCli

I did look at your certificates.

Both cross the Sept 30 boundary ( a little too close for my liking).

I have reset the certificates.

Please restart the server

Thanks Chuck, will do.

Remote Access now stays enabled, thank you, but OpenPHT can’t see the server unless I disable secure connections, as detailed in another thread

Im also having issues connecting from my rasplex clients. Signing out of server and client fixes the issue, but signing in to both leaves me with just “search”.
Also getting lots of “ CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: sslv3 alert certificate expired”
Have rebooted the server and clients multiple times.
Remote access is working fine and ios app is fine.

Andy, on your server settings > network > disable secure connections. Then log out and back in in Rasplex. That “fixed” it for me on openpht.

@jammytea

Thanks, that does work, but it breaks the ios app./newer clients.
Changing back to preferred then fixes ios, and rasplex continues to work, until rasplex restart then breaks again.
