SSL Certificate Errors

Need more info. Which device?

one of the impacted devices ?

I am assuming your are asking me, I only access plex server via a web browser or plex app on Roku, the message I posted was when I was trying to access this via web browser. Hope that helps.
Thanks

@BenG-1989

  1. Please restart plex
  2. wait 3 minutes
  3. Download the logs ZIP file
  4. Attach please.

I will review. If you have a bad certificate, it will be visible there.

Are you using your own certificate anywhere ?

No am not using my own certificate, I have no idea what happened, it was working fine and then it wasnt, no updates were done. I have attached the logs you requested.

@BenG-1989

I looked at Plex.tv

There is no certificate for your server.

PRESENCE YES
SECURITY (PLEX HOME/PIN) YES
SSL NO CERTIFICATE AVAILABLE

Are you using a proxy?

Your server has not been seen by Plex.tv in over 4 hours.

It’s using a cached, probably expired, certificate.

Ok so i checked everyting i could think of and all was good. (It was working fine for a year) So i decided to uninstall PMS from my freenas server an install it again, but my freenas couldnt install it again just some error, so i updated my freenas 11.3 to Truenas core and now my PMS is working fine so that helped me…

Hi, No I am not using a proxy, the server has been off, as I was having issues I turned the server off, I turned it on so that I could get the logs for you., the server is still switched on. What do I have to do to get a certificate? Should I reinstall Plex?
Thanks

@BenG-1989

  1. Stop Plex
  2. sudo rm "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache"/OSCP/*
  3. Start Plex

Still getting the same error message, think I will just reinstall plex and see what happens unless you have another suggestion

Hi Any way to check my server cert? I feel like Ive tried everything and have both a 2017 Samsung and LG tv on WebOS 6.0 and neither work.

@BenG-1989

Easiest reinstall –

  1. Stop server
  2. Rename “Library” to “Library.old”
  3. Start Plex
  4. Open via http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
  5. Give it a different friendly name.

If it still fails, i’d start looking at something like networking.

This IS RFC-1918 compliant LAN addressing ?

NOTE: DO NOT enable IPv6. Your LAN is IPv4

Thanks for all your help I will give this ago, not sure why it has stopped working nothing has changed. Thanks again.

Just a quick question Plex is installed on TrueNAS (formally FreeNAS) can you tell me the location of the database that stores information about the media that has been viewed etc.
Thanks again for all your help - I am now able to view / play media since re-install no idea what went wrong on the other server.

@BenG-1989

I have no idea where it is on TrueNAS (yet). I’ve not had the opportunity to learn.

You can get into the SSH shell and find the Preferences.xml file. That will get you to the “Plex Media Server” directory

It also would have been very helpful to know this is TrueNAS upfront.

Sorry I didnt think it was relevant as the information was in the logs that I sent you, will make note next time, is the folder you referring to called Plex Media Server, as the only preference.xml file I can find is located in that directory along with other folders, but there is no reference to where the Media Server folder is

@BenG-1989

  1. Because PMS runs on so many different platforms, yes knowing the base OS is important. TrueNAS Core is BSD Unix. TrueNAS Scale is Linux based. Further, how each platform implements “apps” is the significant point.

  2. Yes, You’re interested in the “Plex Media Server” directory where you also see "Preferences.xml

  3. If you’re looking at “Plex Media Server”, what is the actual directory path please? (pwd command ?)

The location of Plex Media Server depends on where you are looking from:
Inside jail - /Plex Media Server
Outside jail - /mnt/name_of_jail/iocage/jails/PlexServer/root/Plex Media Server
Everything appears to be working ok, obviously everything has been reset, everything is marked unwatched, which is why I was wanting the location of the database.
Hope this helps mate, and next time (hopefully there will not be one :)) I will mention OS, BUT, and please dont take this the wrong way, its just advice as you are right I should have mentioned OS, from a support POV if its significant the question should be asked up front - Thank you very much for all your help I really appreciate it and also how prompt your replies have been. If there is anything you want to know about TrueNAS and Plex feel free to ask and I can let you know, or test :).

Thanks… Now I understand.

From that “Plex Media Server” directory,

  • Plex Media Server / Plug-in Support / Databases

This is where you’ll find all the database files.

  • *.wal and *.shm are the current session transaction files. When PMS shuts down, they should be gone.

  • com.plexapp.plugins.library.db – The Master PMS library about your libraries

Fantastic thanks mate much appreciated you have been a great person to deal with keep it up mate!

hello how can i get a certificate check or reset?
