SSL Certificate Errors

Is there a firewall / virus scanner / port filter in there somewhere ?

The transcode is starting, running, then gets terminated due to the connection being closed.

Hi, I hope I’m posting in the right topic.
I’ve noticed I lost connection to my Plex server this afternoon but not sure what triggered this.

I can access the content using local Web App but cannot from plex.tv nor Android App.
Plex version Version 1.24.5.5173

Tried sign out / sign in and service restart but issue still present .

Logs show some error regarding certificate :

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to retrieve cert from plex.tv: 429,
CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Thanks for the help.

@grojojo

It looks like you reinstalled or signed out / lost info from Preferences.xml.

That created a new server of the same name.

That new server then hammered on Plex.tv for a certificate and Plex.tv throttled it.

I have reset the 429 lockout for now.

Restart the server.

If it does not respond correctly, make a tar.gz / ZIP of the “Logs” directory and attach here.

It looks like I may be having a certificate issue as well.

Is it possible to try to get a reset?

@qw741234

May I have a ZIP of your logs please ? ( a tar.gz of the Logs directory is just as good )

Not the original users but I’m also having certificate issues today. Same 429 issues as have been posted above. I’m installing Plex via Docker and claiming during container setup. I’ve had one successful attempt but it seems most attempts are failing. These are the Logs from a server that have basically only been claimed and nothing else

Hopefully this helps. Thank you!

@qw741234

I have cleared the Plex.tv throttling AND reset your certificate.

Please restart your server.

Next, after the server restarts, restart your apps.

@niayh

I have reset your certificate.

I have also removed 20 dead servers of the same name as your container which haven’t been seen in at least 9 months.

I have cleaned as much as I can but I do request you clean up the rest from “Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown)”

For now, please restart your server.

In the future, please consider keeping the server’s data rather than starting over with each new version?

@ChuckPa could you reset mine please?

@schiraldihno

Your certificate is valid::

	Valid	Wed, 24 Nov 2021 17:34:09 +0000	Wed, 24 Nov 2021 17:35:08 +0000

May I see your logs?

PS: It is not necessary to flag your posts in this thread. I am notified of every post.

@ChuckPa Indeed, when I first noticed issue on Plex, linux service was showing error accessing Preferences.xml. It was actually empty. I restarted server and it generates a new .xml file but then get this certificate issue. I’ve restarted the server following your action but still not able to connect securely from remote. I do not see any particular error on service status.

.

Hmmm not sure what happened but it is now working from Android App but sill not from app.plex.tv.

Hi
seems I have the common cert throttling using Plex web only (restarted the server, did not change anything)

Here are the logs
It seems to have happened yesterday or the day before. Any idea why ?

Thank you !

Thx a lot

Thank you, this resolved the issue. I’m now able to use the encrypted connection again.

Hi Chuck,
My plex has been not working for the past 4 months. Right after I messaged you it started working again? I have no idea how but thank you.

I’m getting these two errors as well. Would a reset resolve my issue?
Nothing network wise has changed. I rebooted my server it and stopped working.

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to retrieve cert from plex.tv: 429

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> errors error code=“1003” message=“API rate limit exceeded”/ /errors

@ErmakDrixx

I’ve removed the 429 trigger.

Restart the server please.

@schiraldihno

I have the ability to go into your account at Plex.tv

  1. See the servers and players on your account
  2. Examine the certificate
  3. Reset the certificate if needed.
