SSL Certificate Errors

Hello @ChuckPa
Can you please reset my cert. I believe I’m having the same error. I’m on windows but it shouldn’t matter I think I just need my cert reset.

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:156.57.138.199]:56802: sslv3 alert certificate unknown

Thanks in advance. <3

@nboB

can you tell me more details about which device(s) are having the problem?

Thanks for your help!
Its on all devices at my friends home!
And which log did you need? Because there are several in my plex folder! Or should i create a new one? With friend in or…?

Browsers connecting to the server via the webapp are experiencing:" app.plex.tv is unable to connect to SERVER_NAME securely. "
Screenshot of error on my friends mac with chrome browser.

Screenshot of convo with friend, describing issues.

@Plexi900

May I see the DEBUG logs ZIP file from the server please which captures this?

I suspect it’s a local network config issue. Logs will confirm.

  1. after restart
  2. during my friends are online

what is the device & app version attempting to play from this IP address?

Whatever it is, the request is malformed (HTTP 400 error)

Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu) Server at 161.97.119.209 Port 80

You may want to consider geo blocking.

I don’t know what you’re showing me here. What is it?

Sorry! I also don‘t know! But this is showing me if i take this ip,(I’ve never seen before)
161.97.119.209:80 you have marked in blue, into the browser to have a look about!

About geo blocking, i remember my friend tried a time ago to come in with VPN(not my home vpn) and it worked sometimes! maybe one of the reasons
Thank you very much for the help!

I get these error messages: CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 162.246.205.27:33073: wrong version number
The IP address is changing. First it were ipv6, after I disabled that only ipv4. I did not change any settings, Plex is running with standard settings. After some minutes or hours the server is not reachable and I have to restart it. Nobody is streaming when these error messages appear.

I can provide logs via pm :slight_smile: thanks!

Since what I think is yesterday my server is struggeling with the certificate of plex.tv. Seems to be no problems on my client machines.
I see the following error in the log:
SSL: no alternative certificate subject name matches target host name ‘plex.tv’

Any ideas what is going on?

@lappen

You have 13 servers :roll_eyes: :rofl:

Which one?

Do you want the old, dead, servers removed ?

Wow, I did not know that :joy:

Yeah sure! You can see which one is active?

I can see everything :smiling_imp: LOL

I’ve removed all the old ones.

Current server certificate is:

Valid	Tue, 28 Dec 2021 22:11:51 +0000	Tue, 28 Dec 2021 22:12:01 +0000

What is this coming from? A TV?

I don’t know. This IP address is probably from the US. I’m based in Europe so that shouldn’t happen. I do get flooded by these messages but from different IP addresses.

I can provide a log file.

If you’re getting scanned by crazy addresses like this, I recommend taking further action.

First step is to change you external Plex port and IP address if possible. Port 32400 is very well known.

If that’s insufficient, there are tighter methods which can be employed.

I just finished moving my Plex server from a Windows machine to a Fedora machine. I’m getting this error in the console logs:

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:172.16.0.9]:54868: sslv3 alert bad certificate

This is the IP of the Windows machine (no longer running Plex Server). Does something need reset or did I copy something over in the config that I shouldn’t have?

May I see the log files please? (the ZIP)

I can’t tell what’s happening from just one line because that could be coming from the player and not be a server issue at all.

Plex Media Server Logs_2022-01-02_20-08-32.zip (4.3 MB)

Here are my latest logs. They are riddled with that error.
