SSL Certificate Errors

@ChuckPa

I think I have a similar issue with my certificate. I’m not able to download the CODEC and I get SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK errors.

Plex Media Server version: 1.25.5.5492
Plex Media Player version: 1.40.1.2823-6f60f3a7

My Codec folder is empty. I tried copying the codec from the server manually but I still get error message and it doesn’t play.

C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\Plex\Plex Media Server\Codecs\62cc2bc-4226-windows-x86_64

I’ve been trying to fix it for a while and using the web player instead but I’m about to start travelling and I’ll need the download feature on the PMP. Thanks for your help

Hello,

I have been trying to solve recent issue with my ATV3, which has been working for years. I can access my library and watch movies on my Macbook and Android. It seems there is no issue from my Raspberry server.

But when I am trying to load my library through ATV3, the “library is unavailable. try later” appears.

in the console I have this message:

ERT: incomplete TLS handshake from ////// stream truncated

@lessismore

Your certificate self-renewed today

Valid	Wed, 09 Mar 2022 15:06:20 +0000	Wed, 09 Mar 2022 15:06:30 +0000

Restart the server

@ChuckPa
Would you reset mine please. I am having the same problem

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

@DJ3SA

Your certificate was stuck. I reset it. Please restart the server

I’m seeing the same issue as others:

[CERT] TLS connection from [::ffff:192.168.2.227]:53367 came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name '192-168-2-40.3487a3e9b25c42829c0f9ceb717ab716.plex.direct'; using installed plex.direct cert

@soehlert

Which server please?

You mean the server name? plex-so should be the only one I own.

You have two servers: plex and plex-so. Both have valid certificates generated today.

What is the error coming from?

I have no idea why there’s a second, but it’s the plex-so server please.

@soehlert

I have reset the certificate…
Restart the server.

For Reference:

plex was created 4 hours ago.
plex-so was created 12 days ago.

You can remove the errant server in Setings - Authorized Devices (upper left) - Server (dropdown)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but my PMS on both Ubuntu (SAVE FERRIS is the server name) and Win 10 (FERRIS) under dual boot system are not reaching the server from LG Smart TV. Occasionally it works but then drops out most of the time.

Error in log

Is this a cert issue?

Thanks in advance.

Sean.

@SEANOC

That is a certificate issue.

The server you named (FERRIS), occurred twice.

It looks like you created it, deleted it, then immediately created the current one?

If so, there might be application caching of the now-obsolete certificate.

To make sure things are right. I reset your certificate.

For you:

  1. Restart the server
  2. Let it get up and running (a minute or so)
  3. Restart the client(s)

Thanks so much and will try it when I get home after work.

Server still not reachable on TV but working fine on phone (iPhone 11 with Plex app). Must be TV or something amiss on the local network.

@SEANOC

that’s what it sounds like.

Is the TV one of these?

Hi

Yes, saw this in the help page and other forums. I set the LG TV to always allow insecure connections and server to preferred. Still has intermittent issues. Like tonight, right now, it’s working but I would bet by morning it’s unreachable. Strange!

I have another brand TV I can try over the weekend and will report back.

The fact it works all the time on the phone with no problem points to the TV client or network still potentially. I connect local wireless on my phone, hard wired Ethernet to TV, wireless on the server end.

Thanks again.

Hey, can I get my certificate reset? After some debugging I was able to find the address plex uses and found I was getting this error:

Websites prove their identity via certificates, which are valid for a set time period. The certificate for {ip-somehash}.plex.direct:28113 expired on 2022-02-24.
