SSL Certificate Errors

@lintseng_gmail_com

Your Plex certificate was generated on the 26th and looks fine.

Are you using your own certificate with Plex?

May I see the logs ZIP file (collected about 2 minutes after PMS start) ?

Hi,

i have the same issue that my NAS with plex is not reachable from outside (internet) since a few days.
Can you help me if yes what do you need ?

Im getting the exact same thing, everything was working fine and has for years… then im not longer able to play content and get the same errors with regards to certificates

repeating: CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 192.168.0.86:33768: sslv3 alert certificate expired

192.168.0.86 is my media player

Me too. Is the certificate on the server or the client? Is there a way to delete it?

I wonder if all this current sadness related to SSL certs (now recognised on the status page) is related to the LetsEncrypt root cert expiring today?

You may be right because all of a sudden today my LG TV Plex app will not connect to my local server, no matter how much I fiddle with it but using the mobile Plex app is fine:

Sep 30, 2021 23:01:08.229 [13644] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:54.170.120.91]:53542: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Getting this out of nowhere today when trying to connect my local LG TV Plex app to my local/LAN Windows 10 server but connecting via my mobile Plex app is fine:

Sep 30, 2021 23:01:08.229 [13644] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:54.170.120.91]:53542: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Plex Media Server.log (636.9 KB)

I too am now having this issue with every device in my house. everything is trying to connect remotely for some reason too. even when i go to the 192.168.1.123:32400 it reports that my server is remote. how can this be? but my console is showing this error. attaching logs for good measurePlex Media Server Logs_2021-09-30_22-20-16.zip (3.4 MB)

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:192.168.1.132]:59988: sslv3 alert certificate expired

It appears the backlog for certs from Let’s Encrypt is subsiding. (Their R3 expired)

If you use your own certificates based on LE’s certs, you should review them for validity.

As far as Plex is concerned, Please restart Plex.

Advise here if the Plex certificate doesn’t settle with a fresh one and I will reset for you

Hi, could you reset my certificate please? Still got the issue after restarting server and client.

Hi,
could you check my certs too. I’m not sure if this is connect to issue with remote access.
Thanks a lot

Hi, Can my certificate be reset please, done multiple restarts and still no luck

Hi and thanks for your efforts to make plex securely reachable again from remote.

Unfortunately I still have the problem, that secure remote access is not possible since yesterday.
I already restarted plex server and my router more than once.

Please also take a look in refreshing my certificate.

Thank you!

Restarted the TV Plex app this morning and it looks to be ok now.

Spent a fun five hours trying to figure out what’s going on. By the looks of it I appear to be hit by the same thing. Is there any way to solve this on my side or do you need to somehow reset this for every single one on the server side (and if the latter, could you kindly do so?)

Was hoping a restart would resolve remote access

No luck after three restarts and a server reboot

First time in years I’ve had an issue like this

same error, CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from …: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Morning. I suddenly have remote access issues with my plex server.
Server is running on an ubuntu 18.04 server in a rack. Has been fine for years.
Error in log appears related:
incomplete TLS handshake from [ IP removed} sslv3 alert certificate expired.
Have updated server version, rebooted server, restarted network hardware and checked port forwarding. Can you please indicate next steps or timescale?

@choiandjohn

I have reset your certificate :crossed_fingers:

Please restart the server so it can get a new certificate (which isn’t expired)

All, I have reset your certificates. I saw a number of “30-Sept” dates. Those were definitely a problem.

Please restart your servers.
