SSL hasn’t worked for about 2 months now, I’ve tried installing it on a Linux vm to see if maybe the Windows release is affected but i got the same result. I’ve tried about 5 different versions of plex server as well, all to no avail. Does the SSL certificate need to be manually updated for my plex pass account? I’m not sure what the issue is based on all the testing I’ve done.
Enable ‘Debug’ logging on your server
Disable ‘verbose logging’!
Stop Plex server
Start Plex server
Wait at least 5 minutes
fetch logs
inspect the Plex Media Server.log. It should contain informations about certificates etc.
went through the log on both of the servers, used the find function, couldn’t find anything regarding “certificate” or “cert”. These servers have been running flawlessly for 3 years, now no ssl for either one.
yes, i made sure debug logging was on, and verbose logging was off for both servers, stopped plex server, restarted plex server, waited at least 5 minutes and took a look at the logs and searched for those two words. I just checked again in case it took a bit longer, but to no avail.
Here you go! these logs have a few hours of runtime on them just so you know. And I appended the filenames for my tracking to make sure which is which. If you need other logs, just let me know.
the logs i have attached still contain all information from the first 5 minutes of the server starting, it just has some extra lines from being online a bit longer. First entry in those logs is almost 6 hours before now, which is in line with when my second post on this thread was made. Unless OttoKerner specifies he needed me to restart the server and grab new logs, but he asked for full logs which i assume, the longer, the better. He didn’t specify other files either so I assume he just wanted the server log.
Not sure why Rustic only had a little bit, Plex doesnt seem to want to start properly anymore on that one. Its only an older verson because it used to be on 1.16 but had the same issue, and as a part of my troubleshooting, i downgraded. I can re upgrade if need be.
Believe it or not, I was trying to get this to work on an xbox one, and this fixed it because SSL wasnt working. I’ll go ahead and turn it back on and provide new logs.
I’ve been playing around with a lot of settings because i posted over a month ago and didnt get any action on the post, so I’ve been going through absolutely everything. It slipped my mind about turning off the secure connections. I assure you the issue is still present regardless of that item. I will go ahead and upgrade Rustic, turn on secure connections and get new logs for you.
The issue is for all devices, not just the xbox. For any and every client. Here’s an attachment from Plex Web. Note: I just updated both Plex Servers to 1.16.6.1592. I will post logs in a few minutes as they just came back up, and i know yall want 5 minutes on the logs.
I meant when you had your initial issue. Now, you have that setting disabled, so it’s not possible to create a secured connection. Turn that setting back on. Restart PMS, try again.
Gotta say, not happy to say this. Now that they’re updated, they work. I don’t know what actually fixed the problem. I’ve had the servers up to date before and still had issues.
back to square one. I haven’t been able to sync any items for the past week, and now SSL quit working again on my main server, second server seems to be fine for the time being. I’m on the latest version of server for windows, version 1.17.0.1841. i initially updated from 1.16 because Sync wasn’t working, but now SSL isnt working either. Also here’s proof that i have secure connections turned on.
Why do you know SSL isn’t working? From your screenshots, I see the green lock icon next to your server. This indicates that Web is using a secured connection so it is working.
