[implemented] Standalone purchase (IAP) for Plexamp

Feel free to close this if it’s a duplicate.

I’d love to see a one time In-App Purchase (IAP) for Plexamp, similar to purchasing the Plex app on Android.

Would be ideal for those who don’t run servers themselves but use shared libraries (eg partners/parents/kids) as sharing passwords is bad practice.

Alternatively, creating a managed account that allows my partner to sign in with her own credentials (instead of having to ask for mine + a 2FA token) would also work. Similarly, teenage kids with their own devices.

Hint: With a Plex Pass, you can invite full plex.tv accounts into your plex home.

Appreciate the idea. Not really what I’m suggesting though. I’m a Plex Pass lifetime. However family who access my shares are not. For those folks a one-time purchase is handy since they’ll never run a server themselves.

Thanks for the response though.

All the more reason to at least invite those persons with whom you are sharing a roof.
You can install Plexamp on their devices and sign in using your plex credentials. Then you perform “Switch User” to their respective user accounts.
Protect your user profile with a PIN, to prevent them accidentally switching back to yours.

I still like the idea of one-off IAPs, but I appreciate that this might be closest solution for various reasons.

I’d like to second this idea, as I would happily pickup a license for $15+ per user for my family, but the idea of doing $15 a month for a service I host is out of the question. Locally managed users are functional but leave a lot to be desired.

You might want to catch up on this blog post (requires Plexamp 4.8.0 or newer).

With that in mind I consider this suggestion to be implemented.
