Star Trek (1966) Won't Match to TVDB DVD Order

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2852
Player Version#: 4.30.2

I’ve seen several other posts of a similar nature but are unresolved or closed. There are massive differences between the aired order and DVD order of Star Trek (TOS-1966), and mine were ripped from DVD, and labeled in DVD order.

Plex won’t match this show to TVDB. I’ve done the Plex dance a few times, I’ve tried to use the “Match” menu manually searching and it generates no results. I’ve tried inputting the TVDB series number as the search query, also.

My file naming conventions are consistent with Plex standards. Series folder is “Star Trek (1966).” In that folder “Season XX,” with each episode labeled “Star Trek (1966) - sXXeXX - Episode Title”

I’ve attached logs, and running server on QNAP NAS. Thanks for your help.

Naming should not require the year.
The show is listed in TheTVDb as “Star Trek”.

The matching should also not depend on how you ordered things. Plex will try to find a show that matches your folder structure/names and the episode file name prefix.
If you followed the DVD order and TheTVDB has a DVD order in their database you can subsequently edit the show within Plex (Advanced > Episode ordering > DVD order)

Also keep in mind that the ^^ option is for matching purposes. You still need to have the episodes numbered according to the order you want.

the episode title is irrelevant.

the important part is the s##e##

if your files are numbered according to the dvd sort of tvdb, it will work fine.

dvd sort will not magically put aired named into dvd order, you must make sure each episode s##e## matches the dvd order (not the air order).
