The metadata used to work fine but at some point recently this show started misreporting as the first season of star trek voyager instead of star trek picard. I sanitized the file structure to the recommended names in an effort to fix the problem but have not had any success. Here is a screenshot of the current file structure.
I’ve also removed and re-added it several times in an effort to fix the issue.
mine is exactly the same as yours except I have a “-” between Star Trek Picard and the episode name
Star Trek Picard - S01E01
Star Trek Picard - S01E02
etc
Thanks for the reply. I gave that a shot but it still appears to be broken. I renamed all the eps adding the dash and moved the whole picard folder out, rescanned library to remove, moved it back, rescanned library to add it back. Still had the same result with it changing it to voyager.
I have been doing the Plex dance every time I make any change. Unfortunately I still have the issue. Thank you though this is always good advice. The Picard meta data worked perfectly since the show came out I’m not sure what changed to make it stop working.
I do also have Discovery this was a great idea of something to try. Unfortunately it still didn’t work. I removed both Discovery and Picard folders to another location, did the full plex dance. I moved only Picard back did a scan and it still mislabels it as Voyager. I do not have any other Star Trek TV show content in there at this point.
I was mixing up Voyager & Discovery. Apologies for the confusion.
I just loaded Star Trek Picard into my backup/test PMS system.
It identified the show as Discovery.
Not sure why it did so. However, I did a Fix Match and Plex pulled in the correct information.
At the library level, hover over the icon for the show, click on the three vertical dots and choose Fix Match. Choose “Search Options” and Title = “Star Trek: Picard” (I left the year blank). Click Search.
Plex listed the show and downloaded the correct info.
I understand that MKV files do not have internal metadata that can screw things up but it seems that about the only thing left is to eliminate “local media assets” just as if we are dealing with mp4 files. It cant hurt.
In settings go to Agents.
Then in movies and shows move “local media assets” to the bottom. You can ignore the first agents labeled with “personal media” but this should be done with all things like “TheTVDB” and “TMDB” and Plex movie" and just about anything else.
After you have done all that repeat the “Plex Dance” for all “Star Trek” shows and be sure to “empty trash” before moving anything back.
As I said I do not think MKVs have internal metadata to screw things up but this cannot hurt.
If you still have problems you might try only moving “Picard” back into your library and then using “Fix Match” at the show level to fix it to what it needs to be and then moving your other Star Trek" shows back in.
I have most of the “Star Trek” universe and I have never had any problems like you are having.
Note: I do not use the year field but that is not a bad idea as it “can” help Plex to identify the shows.
Fix match definitely provided a solution to the immediate problem. There are no new episodes coming in right now so I’m unsure if this will continue to be an issue in the future. I’m not using the years in the format but that can’t hurt to try. I will also make the changes @Elijah_Baley suggested since those sound like a good idea anyway.
