I’d really like to be able to use it like a Roku.
Would be nice I guess but I would honestly never switch from my nvidia shield for the steam link.
Didnt see a source posted, so just throwing a link up

Would be nice!
Plex app on the steam link would be awesome!
i think PLEX needs to focus on the programs and products it already has out before starting another, there is performance and quality issues across all the platforms and apps it has out already
Ditto @AcidRain999

+1
Absolutely agree with AcidRain.
Seems awfully underpowered to run a real application like a Plex front-end, since it is essentially a glorified extra monitor.

All that I’m asking is that they look into it. Plex runs just fine on a chromecast/roku, why couldn’t it run on the SteamLink? What differences are there?

I put it right at the beginning of my post.
Would like this. Can throw away some devices around the house.

I agree with this, but I’d also like to see it on Steam Link.

We’ll see what the SDK does…but Steam Streaming currently requires that the server actually load & run the game/program/etc (you can trick it into doing non-steam things…like Chrome or even Excel if you hate fun)…it’s basically a fancy implementation of remote desktop. If they make the apps run local on the Link, then sure…treat it like a Chromecast…I’m in 100%. But if it requires a server (currently Windows only, I think) be running whatever you’re viewing, the Link would essentially be a RDP connection to PHT/PMP more than a true front end

Yup, this. I borrowed one from a colleague to play around with and it’s really just a glorified remote desktop thin client back to your PC, that runs Steam in big picture mode (so no one else can use the PC in the meantime). Not sure how Plex would work on that.
Related: the steam linux client can now do this…and a $300 chromebox is WAAAAAAY more useful than a $50 thin client (mine runs steam streaming from a windows workstation with a beefy GPU, and also is my Plex Server, TVHeadend server, and kodi front-end. This means I can run a PC the size of a box of cookies 24/7, and only turn on the 700 watt dual-CPU monstrosity when i need it.)
Great news on the apps ! Can’t wait to put my hands on !
+1 would love this!
