This would be a Plex Media Sever feature for the transcoder engine to upmix the audio to match your playback device’s connected audio system.
I think this would be best as an option in the player app or via a server setting to enable/disable. I know Kodi can do this natively and probably PHT has the same function. However, my primary client happens to be an Xbox One or some other app (roku and etc). So this would enable those apps to playback music using your complete surround sound system.
This should be added as an option, because I’m sure there are many that want it to stay true to the source. This could also be implemented for other things, like video playback.
I attempted searching for a feature request and other parts of the forums, but didn’t really turn up anything for results.
