I must have confused the agent and the ordering. There’s a TVDB option for the agent, but it won’t save. It keeps reverting back to Plex Series, so I thought it was broken. Now I see the episode ordering and have changed it. It saved, too. I still can’t save the TVDB agent, though. It’s confusing. I do appreciate your help and your patience. Plex works well for everything else. It’s just these darn Doctor Who specials that drive me crazy.
I’ll scan again and see what happens. I’ve already manually changed the incorrect episodes, and don’t know if that matters.
If you manually edit an episode, then Plex will use that information instead of the online information.
If desired, you can revert to the online information by performing the Plex Dance for each episode you want to change back. An alternate process is to re-edit the episode, unlock the manually edited fields, then refresh the metadata. Personally, I find the Plex Dance easier, but both should work.
If you are happy with the manual edits, there is no reason to revert.
I know about the Plex dance. I basically did that when I reorganized everything by creating a work space out side of the libraries. I renamed all the files there so Plex didn’t have to keep rescanning while I edited the file names.
I don’t see a need for change at this point. I separated the seasons from the specials into two libraries, so I still have to put the pieces back together again. I’ll keep the separate workspace, though. That was helpful.
FYI, Here’s an example from my Plex server, using the TVDB Aired episode ordering.
\test-tv\Doctor Who (2005)
\---Season 00
Doctor Who (2005) s00e157.mkv
Doctor Who (2005) s00e158.mkv
Doctor Who (2005) s00e159.mkv
Doctor Who (2005) s00e161.mkv
Mine looks similar now, except I added hyphens, titles and some additional information in square brackets at the end.
The seasons are still where they were when we started. I’ll move them to the new space. I also have most of the original 1963 shows to organize.
I realized today after it was all done that I have all but one special. I’m only missing “The Infinite Quest” (S00E05). TVDB says it isn’t critical for the story, but it would be nice to have a complete collection.
