Stop Re-Pinning “Movies & TV”

It seems on a bi-weekly basis or after app updates (especially with PlexWeb) the streaming service is being re-pinned to my sidebar. If I unpin something it should remain unpinned. My other libraries that are unpinned don’t magically re-pin themselves, so why does the streaming service?

I did not become a Plex Pass member because I wanted access to movies and television shows so awful that no other streaming service wants them. I don’t appreciate having content intentionally or “accidentally” pushed on me or my family members.

Please prevent this from happening in the future. Respect your paying customers.

If you want those online sources to go away for good, just disable them on your account:

Thanks for the tip. Plex should fix the unpinning problem as well.

Just an update… Movies & TV were disabled (guess I forgot I did that).

So this is in fact a case of the Movies & TV section re-pinning itself, even when Movies & TV are disabled in the Online Media Sources settings area.

So I ask again, please do something to stop this from happening in the future.

Are you sure about that?
I’ve heard of users with certain browser add-ons, surfing in private mode, changing browsers… that can cause Plex to forget certain settings such as what sources have been pinned. Disabling a certain online media source is stored on your account level and usually sticks (at least I haven’t seen complaints about that).

Can you enable and then disable that particular online media source – just to see if there might have been some hiccup when storing your selection?

Yes, I am sure. Not really sure how you think I could be mistaken. Checked Online Sources after your tip, it was disabled.

No browser add-ons, don’t use PlexWeb while in Private Browser mode, and only use Safari. I have toggled the option and hopefully that will fix it. If any of the above possibilities could be the cause Plex should ensure better compatibility with browsers.

I’m thinking Movies & TV appears regardless of your settings if the player isn’t actually logged into an account. Maybe that’s the issue?

I was logged in.

I seem to recall having this issue on occasion. I think it is more correlated to when the player updates, more so than the server, but I didn’t track this super closely. It also didn’t annoy me enough to start a thread about it, but it is annoying. If you change settings a certain way those settings should stick through updates. We don’t have to rebuild libraries, reconfigure subtitles etc for a server or client update so I’m not sure why this would be any different.

I don’t think the solution is to disable them in your account though. These may be something that we want to use on occasion. We just don’t want them to be pinned to the home menu. If you put those under the “More” menu at the bottom, they should still be under “More” after an update.
