Strange audio issue, started with nvidia 9.1

The issue I’m about to describe started with nvidia 9.1 (I’ve installed all hot fixes). I’ve even reinstalled Plex. I do have server enabled, but the primary Plex server runs on a NAS. This issue isn’t present on any other client, only on the Shield client.

I have - 2015 Shield feeding → Home theater system → Android TV. Everything works great as it always has, except when I use a playlist (video) or ‘up next’ (autoplay) is used. Here is what happens…

I select a video playlist (shuffle). The first video ALWAYS plays fine. After that, if the next video has embedded subtitles, or additional audio streams, they are used. So I might end up with a cartoon that is displaying subtitles and the audio is in Spanish. If I select the subtitles, ‘none’ is checked and I can’t change it. If I select the audio stream, I can’t change it. If I ‘manually’ go back to the previous video and then ‘manually’ go to the ‘next’ video, the video (same video) plays fine with no issues.

So, I am forced to use the Plex player on the Android TV when I want to use a video oriented playlist. The Plex client on the TV is barely functional when compared to the one running on the Shield.

I’ve searched and not found anyone else who has complained about this issue.
