Streaming audio to Raspberry pi with Allo Digione as a Plex client?

Hi, this is my first post on the forum, and I am a recent subscriber to Plex Pass. So far I love it, streaming music everywhere, even in my car is well worth it to me as well as many benefits I won’t go into here like Plex mix etc. I do have a few questions, as I own some hires audio and a raspberry pi running an Allo Digione board… Is there any way to stream hires to my stereo connected to rpi3 with Plex? I am running the Diet-pi Allo software which is great for squeezebox and folks using other streaming technologies, but I cant get my Plex server to see it. It is the one device that I really would like to stream to if it is possible, I would appreciate any input from others who may have been down this road before me. Thanks!

Hi there… I am in the same boat as you. So far the onlyway that I can see of doing anything like this is to install Plexamp for Raspberry Pi following Elan’s instructions here: Plexamp for Raspberry Pi Release Notes.
The only problem is that it looks like it nukes the DietPi software that is already installed. I haven’t plucked up the courage to do it yet as it’ll be a right pain getting DietPi back on there, set up the way I like it.
Would love to hear back if you get it working though!

Hi Bob,

Why not just get another uSD card so that you can switch by just swapping cards?

Hi Mark,

Yes that would work. I was actually wrong though - it doesn’t nuke your existing installation, and is pretty easy to do. I installed Raspbian Lite (just for kicks, instead of DietPi) and then followed Elan’s instructions and it works like a dream! I can now see the rPi as an end point and can play music on it directly. Sorted.

Let me know if you need any pointers.

Cheers, Bob
