Streaming with "Convert Automatically" set as default

Hi

I use my Plex server mostly to stream to ioS devices and to Apple TV’s.

I notice that, by default, my streams always start with Quality set at “Original” and then I have to manually change them to “Convert Automatically”.

Is there a way to have the “Convert Automatically” be the default setting?

That’s an option available on each client/app. You cannot configure that from the server side.

e.g. on iOS: Settings > Quality > Video Quality > Automatic Quality

Edit: many server owners prefer their users to set original/max quality on their devices in order to avoid too much transcoding.

Thanks. At the moment that setting is turned on. After switching it off I am still having the same issue which is I have to switch to convert automatically to be able to stream without any issues
