Hi. Weird error but over the past couple of days, any stream via my Apple TV 4K results in it freezing for around 15 seconds then it resumes playing. Device is wired (issues happens on either wired or Wi-Fi) and so of course is the Plex Media Server.
One thing I did notice while trying to do some of my own troubleshooting, is when checking the Dashboard, my steam goes from Direct Stream to Transcode during the freeze. When the video begins to play again, it is only when it jumps back to Direct Play.
I’ve tried entering the Apple TV 4K IP address into the LAN Networks but it made no difference. Never had any issue with Apple TV & Plex before now. I have noticed the Apple TV Plex App was updated 1 week ago so it could very well be related but wanted to post this to see if other people are having the same issue.
We have 2 other 4th Gen Apple TVs (Non 4K versions) in the house and they play absolutely fine and one is wired and another is Wi-Fi. I have Netgear Orbi for Wi-Fi and any device with a network port is always wired. So it wouldn’t be silly to assume this issue is just related to the 4K model maybe?
I have attached the logs to this post to see if someone can spot something I cannot. I am an IT engineer but debugging isn’t part of my role nor do I have the patience for it. I’ve asked a few friends to stream some random films or TV from my server and it never once freezes or jumps - non of them are using the 4K version I should add.
Anyone any ideas? I did google this issue but all the posts are over 1 year old so I am guessing this is fairly new issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
