Stuttering on MKVs

I’ve been having ongoing issues with .MKVs stuttering. My primary playback method is direct playing via Plex, but it also seems to be present via DLNA. This only started happening with the NXOE dashboard.

When played directly, .MKVs will stutter at the beginning. If I rewind just a bit via the D-Pad, it’ll play smoothly for a short period and the problem repeats itself. These are 720p & 1080p files with 5.1 AC3 audio. 1080p files are almost unwatchable with stuttering issues every couple of minutes that don’t always get resolved with the D-Pad workaround. I’ve tested this against files that I’ve successfully played prior to the NXOE dashboard.

I’ve tried disabling direct play while keeping direct stream enabled. The stuttering doesn’t seem to be as prevalent, but playback will pause occasionally. The only alternative seems to be to force transcoding which on some files forces it into 3mbps and the image quality suffers.

X1 is connected via wireless with down speeds above 20 and up speeds around 15.
Plex Server is running on the local network on an FX-4200 Quad Core 3.30ghz, 16gb DDR3, and a 3tb sata drive.

This, combined with connection issues related to the 1.3.1.0, have severely crippled the app in my experience. Any relief on the horizon?

We’re still investigating this but it does seem related to the new dashboard and OS, as reported by many other users.

Thanks for your response. I had read other users’ experiences, but some have said a dashboard update had resolved it. I’m on the latest preview build, plex pass server build, and latest Plex x1 release. I wasn’t sure if I had overlooked a fix or if others are still experiencing this.

Exactly the same problems here! Running macMini i7 El Capitano Server 16Gb Ram 500Gb System 18TB raid. I’ve tried different settings included fix cableing nothing works
