Stuttering on play, extremely high network usage.

When I play various HD media on plex for xbox one, the video will stutter, almost as if the network bandwidth was being starved. However when I look at the plex server and it’s outgoing connection, it goes from no utilization up to 100mbits (odd given the whole network is gigabit, and every device is connected properly at gigabit speeds), then stays pretty high throughout playback. The media is nowhere near that bitrate though.

Here’s the media info from a sample item that has issues. It’s not just this file, but many others with similar bitrates.

Are you currently using the Xbox One preview dashboard?

There is currently a known issue with the preview dashboard that is affecting playback. If that is not the case, we would need to see the Plex Media Server.log from an attempt to play back this media in order to try and diagnose what is happening. (Preferably with Server logging enabled from the Plex App settings on the Xbox One)

Totally using the preview dashboard. Any rough ETA? It’s not terribly inconvenient, given that reverting from the preview dash requires a factory reset, but over a long enough time it will get annoying so I might as well bite the bullet now

Unfortunately, no from what I have gathered it is a general problem with the preview program and not something specific to Plex.

I actually opted out of the preview program because of the problems I read about. (With how much we use Plex on the Xbox I didn’t want to live through this)

With that being said, if something is found that can be used negate the issue I am pretty sure the developers would have no issue implementing it. The problem is just with how prevalent the issue is we are having trouble trying to find something that is causing it.

Most MKV’s I play have this issue. The preview dash is scheduled for release in Nov so let’s hope MS correct soon. As a workaround forwarding the video by as little as a second seems to resolve this for me when using direct play…
