Stuttering when Direct Play H265 Video on MacOS Safari in Plex Webinterface

Hi,

i have an Plexmediaserver running on Ubuntu 19.04 in an VM with two Cores of an Intel Core i5 6500 CPU. My Client is a macMini 2018 with an six Core i5 Intel processor. Network is Gigabit cable network.

When i try to play an H265 Video from the Plex Web Interface, the Video is stuttering for a few seconds an then it works for two or three minutes and then it is stuttering again. When i Play an H265 Video from the AppleTV Plex App i did not see this issue.

On the Server i see that Plex Media Server is consuming 100% CPU when the issue happens. No transcoding is done. In the Webinterface i see that the Video will be direct played.

I will add an Logfile from the Server to the Thread. It’s from starting the movie till the first time the stuttering appears.

If you need further informations for investigating the issue please let me know.

H.265 is not supported in web browsers. (as far as Plex is concerned)
So you will always get transcoding when playing HEVC video in the web app.

Use the Plex Media Player instead. Free Download below.

I don’t know that there is an extra App for Streaming on macOS. I will test it.
