I’m using Plex in the provided docker container app on TrueNAS Scale, which is very pleasant.
I have a problem with just one single client device, that is a Surface Pro 11 5G with the ARM Snapdragon Elite.
The issue is independent of video encoding, network connection (I’m mostly offsite, having 1G fibre uplink this is not the problem), or its ARM CPU. When I use this Tablet with the Flex Keyboard or an external mouse, I do have absolutely no problems.
However, when I use the Surface solely with its touchscreen / touch input, the operation such as pressing Play after Pause is stuttering, similar to holding down the space bar continuously, even though I only touch Play briefly. You do see the icon flickering, changing between play and pause.
This error does not occur when I use a mouse. The error happens regardless of whether I do transcode or not. I’ve tried many options, including the alternative streaming protocol.
The error occurs when using Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, each with the latest versions. The error also occurs when using the Plex Player, which is not optimized for ARM64. I’m using Windows 11 24H2 with the latest patches. Also for Surface hardware drivers you do get Updates via Windows Update, there is nothing I could update.
I don’t have this issue on my Notebook, iPad or my Phone. I don’t know if this issue exists on newer non ARM64 Surfaces as I don’t own one (I do love the Snapdragon).
I’m not familar with this forums software, couldn’t find any similar threads that do match my problem. My search terms were “Touch,” “Stuttering,” and “Surface Pro”. If there is another Thread regarding this issue, I’d kindly ask for appending this to the other Thread or adding better tags.
I’d love to use this tablet only, as its battery is lasting way longer than my iPad Pro, its Qualcomm 5G Modem is a dream to work with (also way better than the iPad) and I’m free to be more productive with just this one device as its flex keyboard is also no problem to replace my notebook.
Can you help me with that?
Thank you!
John
