Subfolders for movie collections to be seen in the client (TV menu)

Server Version#: 4.143.0
Player Version#: Samsung TV UE65JS8500 ver. 2.012
Please forgive an amateur fresh in Plex, this might be easy for all of you, but I haven’t found any article or discussion about it. I would like to know if it is possible to create subdirectories in my server (regarding movies), subdirectories that will be seen in the menu on my Plex-app on my TV. Just creating them on the server did not work, at least. All my movies are just one big list. Is this possible ?

This client is severely out of date. You could even call it “ancient”.
You will not be able to use it with an up-to-date plex server.

That ancient client aside, there are Collections.

Though pinning these collections to the Home page would be a Plex Pass feature (and won’t work on that old Samsung TV).

Well, it does work without problems currently.

I tried the recipe to add a couple of films to new collections. That made the films appear twice in the list in the server (my PC). Is that supposed to happen ? I was not stopped without Plex Pass to do it.

Short answer is no. Plex is designed to show everything in the library as 1 view. You can group this together using collections but that’s probably not what you want. If your files are already organized into folders, you can try the “folder” view within the client apps. This is not a great ui but might give you what you want.

Read the first link as well. It explains how collections can appear among regular movies (or not, depending on the settings of the library) and whether movies which are part of a collection will continue to appear among the general list of movies.
