About once a week a subset of posters will disappear, the same ones every time. I will refresh metadata and it matches perfectly again, no issues until they disappear again. I’ve set it to not use local metadata, and disabled the scheduled tasks. It still happens. This may be a Mac / Filesystem issue? I use another media manager and it also has a few thumbnails that disappear at the same time, that also has its own matching system where everything is fine with a forced refresh. I’m not really sure how to troubleshoot this more deeply - any suggestions?

Had a similar thing happen before. By any chance do your hard drives that store your media spin down or disconnect while PMS is still running? And do you use local artwork in the same folder as your media?
I have my server on a Mac Mini and this only happened when my drives that store media disconnect with PMS still running. Somehow if you leave PMS running on Mac and don’t have the drives connected, PMS will start replacing posters for certain items. A force refresh fixes the posters for me also but I haven’t had it happen in a while since I always turn off PMS whenever I disconnect the drives.
Interesting thanks this makes sense. I do use an external HDD bay. Did you ever fix it? I already did turn off the MacOS settings to put harddrives to rest, but perhaps there’s another one I missed somewhere.
edit: replied too quick. they shouldn’t spin down while being used, and I don’t store any posters in the folder on the HDD - I just use the default setting to use the agents to download
Yes, they match perfectly. Only a small subset of posters (both TV and Movies) disappear randomly. It is fixed through a simple refresh all metadata until the next time it disappears.
