Subtext / SRT files

It started around sep/20 with an update, where my 35TB lib on the nas is connected to my Windows Plex server running on Windows server. The Plex server was looking at my files via UNC link like this \server\HD\2017\ and so on.
I had to roll back til an summer edition of Plex and connect my Windows server to the files via mapped drive M.\2017 to get it work again. Reindex all files and I had to look over all 4000 films to correct wrongly mapped films.
By mistake I updated to an newer version of Plex 2 weeks ago (and again this week) and now have this problem: Every time I buy a movie, rip it, find the SRT files and place it on Plex and run reindex ALL my srt files are removed from the subtxt option (see pic)
I can go in on every film and run “Fix match” and then it is back … on 4000 films. This happens every time I put new content online and run “Scan Lib” - but only on movies in the “folder” I run “Scan” on.

SRT support on Plex is useless and Plex need to do something about that, so it will run stabel.

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: All cliens (andriod, windows …)

I’m not clear on your issue. In your screenshot 1, do you mean that when you click on the subtitles, you don’t see anything in your list. By default PMS does not select a subtitle. It should be Off “Ingen” for you. Using the “Fix Match” option should not change that.

The only time PMS will select a subtitle is if you have the setting enabled to automatically pick them based on your language settings.

For me, if a video has a non English audio track, then English subtitles will automatically be chosen for me. Like this.

But if there is an English audio track, it will automatically pick that and no subtitles.

No, this is what happens:

  1. Im putting a new film in a folder, which Plex is mounted to
  2. Im running the “Scan Lib” (see 1st pic)
    image
  3. Plex is finding the new film and try to match it AND are removing ALL ref to subtitles under the rest of the films (note #1)
  4. I have to go in to each film and run “Fix match”, to regain the STR option, otherwise the subtitle have been removed as option.
DAN srt is once again available
To answar some of the thing you are pointing at:
  • Im runing WITH preselected language on subtext and audio track (pic 2)

New information came to light yesterday:
A few months ago, an update came with an error: UNC path and all subtext was removed from Plex index (files was not removed, but Plex cound not see them).
I then changed my UNC path from “\server\2018” to mapped network drive like “V.\2018” and rolled back til an summer version of plex. I had to clean up my Lib again, but that work fine.
So my Lib ref is like this now: (see pic 3)

Newyear came and I created a new mapped drive “2021” (drive M:) and added that to Plex
It now seems, that my problem described here, only referes to the new drive - M: - with all newer films in it. Only films put online this year have the problem, until now only about 13… It is manageable, but in the long run it will be a big problem

So questions:

  • Is the UNC problem with SRT files fixed? If yes, I can go back to UNC and clean up my Lib one more time (takes about 2 weeks for all the wrong mapping)? I prefere UNC  and that could resolve my problem with the 2021-drive
  • Is there and option somewhere, that needs to be “set”, so the new folder are been scanned correctly?
  • Is there a limit where the database get to be slow or unstable?

Ref.:
This is how I store the files
Each film i it own folder: (pic 4)

Movies are diveded up in each year I made them come online, so I dont get to many folders and files and make the filesystem slow
I have 2115 Blurays, 14 4K, 658 DVD, 445 seasons of the shows (BD and DVD mixed), 284 kidtsmovies and a few tv shows of kids and last some concerts on 6 network path. Togetter is it about 35TB data. I use primarily MP4/H264, but some of with is MKV/H264 (Dolby HD 7.1)

I hobe you get a better understanding of my setup. If anyone feel the need: I have no problem with you suggesting another way to do it

I… OMG… just fund the problem…

I am so sorry for not having faith in you. Sorry, this one is on me!

Do not have two ref to the same folder. I had M: and O: to point at same data… by removing one of them, the problem vanish… please delete me from your life :frowning:

Haha. Glad you found it. What version of Plex Web are you running anyways? Your images don’t look like what the current version should.

The screenshot of the automatic track selection looks like it is taken from the server preference.
This is only used in the event when the server is not signed into a Plex account.

You must use the track selection preferences in your account.
(And each of your users has its own)
