SRT subtitles does not show up anymore(other than english)

I cannot tell exactly which date/update this has happened, but within the last month, Plex does not show my SRT. files.
Atleast not my subs with foreign text. It seems like its translating my local file into english? This has happened with several movies, which i have watched previously with the correct subtitle. I have not changed anything.
I even checked the MKV container, and strangely it does NOT contain an english subtitle. The movie info even shows SRT External as a choice of subs, even tho ive checked the folder which contains my correct sub.
So the english subtitle is defenatley not there in the folder, i dont know where it loads it from.

With one movie, i tried to merge the SRT into the MKV container, and then the correct subtitle showed up as a choice,
Tried to rollback to a older Plex Media Server version, but it did not help.
Tried on my XboxOne, Plex Web Player and Plex Home Theater, but still the same problem.
Any ideas?

Are the movie file and the subtitle together in the same folder, or is the subtitle in a different (sub)folder?
The former works, the latter not.
So please show a folder listing how your files are named.

Also interesting would be a mediainfo XML from a movie you feel has been “translated”.
(Although I am pretty sure this can be explained by some subtitle download agent like the Opensubtiles.org agent or SubZero)

Yes, they are in the same movie folder. Although, there is a subfolder in that folder containing the same sub, which i copied to the previous folder that contains the mkv file. I triple-checked that the names are the exactly the same.

Judging by the mediainfo XML, the subtitle you are seeing in Plex comes indeed from either the Opensubtitles Plugin or from SubZero.
The ‘sidecar’ subtitle file appears to be not recognized.

Make sure that the ‘Local Media Assets’ agent is active under
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - freebase / TheMovieDatabase

The subtitle file itself should use the text encoding UTF-8 to ensure proper function in all Plex clients.

Is your Plex Media Server running under Windows or do you use it on a NAS appliance?

It worked, after i updated the movie in Plex Web Player. Thanks alot :slight_smile:
I dont have a user for OpenSubtitles, but it was checked. And INDEED Local Media Assets were unchecked.
