Subtitle Color

Hello,

I did a Google search, forum search etc… and the conclusion is:

  • for several years already, people are asking for adding an option to change the color of subtitles…
  • Plex developers are introducing a huge number of features and fixes, but not this one.

For me, I use Plex to watch videos from my home collection, all other features are just a bonus features. After all Plex is a media library. Having control over subtitles should be a basic a feature of any media player, this is my personal point of view.

Now, I know a thing or two about coding stuff and Java is one of my main tools at work. So I took a lil liberty to look at how Plex MP on android works, by looking at the apk. It looks like it utilizes ExoPlayer (v2, maybe). Reading through documentation, I don’t believe it’s a big thing to add, may be couple of days (with QA) of man-days. But what do I know, I just spent an hour investigating it.

Dear devs… I really don’t care about pod-casts - pod casts are not a feature I expect from Plex… but I do care a lot about subtitles (with English not being my mother tongue). Please, please, please - spend some time and make your customer(s) happy.

There’s a few old threads in the Feature Suggestions forum. Feel free to make a new request now that the the Voting system is implemented and see if anybody votes for it:

I voted for this, but I use the Windows Store app.
Please introduce the subtitle colour - at least the light yellow - white subtitles are sometimes very hard to read, specially on old b&w movies.
