Plex currently has some global options for subtitles that let it auto enable them when for example it is known that the audio is foreign , the subtitle is your preferred language and or enable them all the time.
The problem is that much or all of my personal media never had the language set at the time of encoding so I think a series wide or section wide flag would be really nice.
IE my anime section always contains English subtitles and nearly always Japaneses audio since I prefer subs to dubs… Right now this gives me problems with some clients such as DLNA or when using PlexSync… If I could mark this section or the series as ALWAYS use subs this would really solve my subtitle issues since for the most part plex does convert them correctly now, but only after I set a preference for EACH episode which is not practical.
Another option would be to have an “Assume subtitles are X” setting that makes Unknown act as a user specific language that would then be used by the existing global overrides.
Upvote, and I hope this could be expanded to set detailed subtitle options per-show (e.g. support for defaulting to signs/songs, etc…)
