I have Plex server running on Windows 10, last version 1.15.4.993 which I use to host all the media files and I use Plex IOS App, last version 5.14 to cast to my TV room which has a Chromecast device.
When casting video files using Plex IOS App to Chromecast the subtitles are automatically LARGE sized and I can not set it to normal size from Plex App (can’t find any option to do this) or either set the subtitle size.
I work flawlessly only when casting from Windows desktop to Chromecast the subtitles come automatically with normal size and also has an option to set from tiny to huge.
How can I fix the subtitle size when casting from Plex IOS App to Chromecast?
The Plex iOS app does not seem to offer sizing of subtitles as available setting like the web app does. It would be nice if that got added to the iOS app.
Are your subtitle files external files (.sub / .srt) or embedded within the media files themselves?
I usually do not have issues with external .srt files. It can be linked to the person or party who created them though. Recently I did have a few .srt files that caused the subtitles to be too big. For now only option seems to be to test with a different source of the .srt files.
Have you checked the subtitles for any formatting? I know VLC supports alot of “style” formatting such as color, position, and size. Perhaps Plex or IOS/Chromecast does too. Here is an example srt. Screenshot taken from VLC.
The iOS app uses the system’s “Subtitle & Captioning” settings and that also applies when casting to Chromecast.
You can change them from Settings.app > General > Subtitles & Captioning
Could you please check if your settings reflect a large size?
