When casting to Chromecast, subtitles change to big font

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: 2025.3.1.1 (966828619), Platform version 16. (my Android phone)

Hi,

When I cast a movie or series from a mobile device, such as an Android Phone, iPhone, iPad, using the (now most-up-to-date) mobile Plex app, the subtitles are always in a too big, very spread out font. If it wasn’t so big this isn’t really an issue for me, but it is really high up in the screen, and due to it being so big, with longer sentences it goes off-screen to the left/right side.

It doesn’t matter what subtitle filetype, what font, size, settings, etc. I have set, it always shows everything in this big font. However, when I watch the same movie or series on my phone, the font is as expected and I can also change the size, background, etc. which is then correctly shown.

See the below images for comparison, above is Chromecast, below is mobile device (from Gremlins 1984 around 10:00 into the movie)

Not sure if this will help… it might be worth updating both your server and the client apps. You’re a bit behind (2+ years when it comes to the server…)

Hey, sorry I see that I pasted the wrong version actually.

Im running Version 1.42.2.10156 as server version, and the mobile app is the most up to date one already. I updated my original post accordingly

Also, to add to the issue. Changing any of the settings in the app, burn vs. Not burn, colouring, background, sizing, override embeddeds subtitle doesnt do anything at all.

On phone it changes .srt files as expected, but doesnt change ass files, on the chromecast both are shown as the image above

Anyone has ideas on what might cause this and how to fix it?
