I just got Plex Pass a couple of days ago and have been experimenting with the new features. One thing that looks very convenient is the ability to pick the right subtitle file within a movie page via the “Subtitles/Search…” dialog.
I personally find it far more convenient than enabling the opensubtitles.org agent, as there is no control over which subtitle the agent will automatically retrieve. There was one case where the agent-retrieved subtitle was off by 28sec and offsetting by 50msec steps was no fun… after 560 clicks I thought I would develop carpal tunnel. On the other hand, with the Search feature one can try a subtitle on the spot, delete it if for whatever reason they don’t like it, try the next one until the best subtitle is spotted.
There’s only one thing missing… While logged in as the admin user, I can find a subtitle via Search, check that it is the correct one and shows up. Then if I switch to a managed user and go to the movie page, the subtitle is missing.
Am I missing something? Can someone confirm this behavior?
thanks
PS. both the admin and the managed user have disabled “Automatically select audio and subtitle tracks” at this moment to make things simpler. This issue does not seem to be relevant to auto selection though, it seems as if the Search action only affects the user it was triggered by.
