Subtitles look awful

I’ve purchased an Apple TV to upgrade the viewing experience.

Thing is, subtitles in my native language are unwatchable. In the default font, it shows unrelated parentheses in almost every line of dialog. I tried switching the font and it made it even worse.

Apple TV plays everything so great, but the subtitles just make it unwatchable. Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone happen to know a fix?

Sadly it’s an old issue that was raised here many times before. but no fix for this so far.
I personally switched to infuse 7 instead of plex native player specifically because of this issue .
It has much better subtitle support for Hebrew.
Still I hope the devs will eventually fix this issue.

That’s quite the shame. It’s a huge deal-breaker for me. It seems like a neglected issue that has been going on for years. I honestly wouldn’t mind paying for the most premium of subscriptions if it wasn’t for this issue.

I paid for Infuse7 and it’s incredible. It shows Hebrew subtitles perfectly, and it even lets me set the font and it remembers that Hebrew is my default go-to language for subtitles. Totally worth the mere 10 bucks a year.

The UI doesn’t compare to Plex though, but the viewing is way more important than the browsing experience.
