Sometimes when seeking backwards with subtitles enabled, subtitles are lost after seeking, usually longer back seek, and are not longer displayed at all.
Using latest Plex for xbox one, but noticed this behavior in older versions also.

same issue with Roku 3.
it has been happening for about 2 weeks, but possibly as early as when they rolled out the new (and more convenient, when it works) subtitle chooser.

Same problem, I created a post about it (and other issues) a while back and got no response. For me it seems to happen whenever I seek and it needs to buffer.edit: I just tested it again and I am no longer having this happen because everything is transcoding with subtitles (including text subtitles). When I was having this problem previously it was only when direct playing (with text subtitles).
Thanks for the update. I am always playing my content with direct play and direct stream enabled on Xbox one client, no sense to disable these.

I have direct play and direct stream enabled too (also the “Burn Subtitles” option is set to “Only image formats”), and when I have subtitles turned off it direct plays as it is supposed to. However, when I turn on (text/srt) subtitles it transcodes (if it is HEVC video, if it is H.264 then it direct streams the video and audio) as opposed to direct playing, which is what I would expect it to do and how it used to be, with both HEVC and H.264 video.
Are you still able to direct play with text subtitles enabled?
Oh, I see. Subtitles are always transcoded by xbox and that seems to be current limitation by Xbox OS itself. So my subtitles are also transcoded even if direct play is enabled in Plex for Xbox, but video stream itself is not transcoded in that case which is a good thing.
There is some info about this on this forum.
