Subtitles none even if .srt is in the same folder

Server Version#: 3.67.1
After last update Plex cannot find subtitles files even if .srt is in the same folders of .mkv,
VLC can play .mkv with subtitles.
I tried to reinstall and to delete all libraries, but with no luck.

How can I enable subtitles again?

Thanks
Lorenzo

Is it named exactly the same as the movie file?

Yes exactly the same.
I tried with filename.srt and filename.it.srt, but I had no luck.
Before deleting libraries I had old series subtitles, after no subtitles at all.

Move the file out of that folder, then in Plex Web visit the preplay page for that movie and make sure there is no subtitle shown. Then go tot he home page. Add the subtitle file back, then visit the preplay page again to check for the subtitle. If you don’t see it, upload your PMS logs here.

I’ll try, thank you

Also good to know: for external subtitles to get recognized, the movie or episode

  • needs to be ‘matched’
  • the ‘Local Media Assets’ agent needs to be activated

Just passing by here, but also has temp issues where LMA sometimes doesn’t detect the external sub.
I can then rename from mymovie.da.srt to mymovie.dan.srt for a fast fix, and after that, in the WebClient, look at the movie again, and it’ll update

(And nope, it’s not an issue with da vs. dan, but simply to trigger a directory update of the timestamps)

Sadly, I’ve yet to get a log for when this happens :frowning:

Fixed
I activated ‘Local Media Assets’ (it was off) and moved away srt files.
Then I rescanned libraries, moved srt files back and scanned again.

Thanks to all of you for your help
