Unable to use a .srt file that is in the same folder as the movie

When i click on the Movie it brings up the screen that gives the synopsis.
It gives the info and for subtitles it shows “None” which has no option to click on it (it is just info)
How can i direct it to the .srt file on my computer (in the same directory)?
this is for all (100%) of my movies. none of them allow me to turn on or use a subtitle.

under Agents - Local Media is on top for all options (Movies, shows, etc)

Is it named the same as the file?

Batman.mkv
Batman.srt or Batman.en.srt

the .srt file has to have exactly the same name as the movie/video file.

Ok… i corrected that …i can now click on subtitles Thanks

It shows "Unknown (SRT External) … should it show the name of the .srt file?

no, it won’t show the name.

However, if you call it name.en.srt as per @BigWheel’s example, it will say it is in English.
Batman.en.srt

Change “en” to the country code the text is written in.

And to add if its a forced subtitle AKA foreign parts subtitle (Dothraki, Klingon etc…)
it would be en.forced.srt
