Subtitles not working on Android TV

I just picked up a new smart TV, an ASTEX AX-MSK50 that runs Android. I installed the Plex app on it and everything seemed to be working fine, except when we tried playing subtitles on a new movie recently added to the server. I thought it was just that movie, but then I tested it on a movie that I watched previously on the Apple TV app with subtitles. Those subtitles wouldn’t work, either. Most of these subs are VOB, but even using the subtitle search option (I believe most if not all of those results are SRT) didn’t turn up anything.

Any chance of this being fixed? While we could connect the Apple TV to the smart TV, it does kind of defeat the purpose of a smart TV just to watch Plex.
