Subtitles stop showing on LG WebOS Plex app

I having the same issue whereby Plex Player for LG WebOS early access cannot display ass subtitle, even not option to load external subtitles.

Server Version: Plex Media Server for Synology Diskstation 1.19.4.2935
Player Version: Plex for LG Client Version 5.0.12, Platform version: 4.1.0

I have the same issue for months now :frowning:

Server: Plex Media Server Version 1.19.4.2935 on Windows 10 Pro System
Player: Plex for LG Client Version 5.0.12, Platform version: 4.8.0

The problem still persist on the preview. It was carry on to the new version somehow.

My problem with the new App (in beta) for LG TV‘s is that even SRT subtitels don‘t work anymore. If SRT subtitels are selectet there will be this error: „Playback Error
An unexpectet playback problem occured.“
Everything works with Xplay.

Try refreshing your metadata. It worked for me

How can I do this in the LG TV App? I don‘t see an option like on my iPhone or Windows App.

Use Plex Web or Plex for Windows.

To refresh an entire library, mouse over the library, select the vertical ellipsis to the right of the library name. Choose Manage Library → Refresh All Metadata

To refresh an individual movie, when viewing the library, mouse over the movie icon (cover art), select vertical ellipsis in lower right corner of movie icon, select Refresh Metadata.

If already at the movie pre-play screen, choose horizontal ellipsis to the right of the Play button. Select Refresh Metadata.

Use same approach for TV shows to refresh metadata for a library, show, season, episode.

It’s possible that every time you select a subtitle is trying to transcode and if you disable transcode on the server you get that message.

The subtitles stop working way more often on preview than the old version. Someone should realy look into that.

Well yes thanks I do know how to do it on my PC but the problem is my LG Plex App. I can‘t refresh the metadata there. I did it in the Plex App for Windows but still problems with SRT subtitels.

No it doesn‘t transcode, I did check this every time. It‘s always on direct play. Else there wouldn‘t be HDR and thats a no go for me.

happens very often for me too on latest 1.20.2.3402

Apparently there is no solution for that. Has been so long. This Is something that we need to get used to.

This is a annoying problem which has been bugging us for months, with no response from the Plex team. It’s quite disapponting that Plex totally ignores this bug. Not even 1 reply.

Yes. The sadest part is until january or february of 2020 this did work flawlessly. I got myself hands on an nvidia shield now. not perfect either but one more option for me. I will also try out kodi now that I own a shield tv.

honestly all these problems I have with plex are the reason I don’t buy plex in the first place and just use the free option. I mean why can’t Plex handel PGS in the first place.

Exactly the same issue with my LG CX9. Latests PMS and Player version. When will this be fixed?

@Plex DevTeam

guys srsly, wtf
pls stop developing the DVR features that hardly anyone uses anyway and get the LG WebOS App working! In each Plex Version Update I see a shitton of DVR updates, but no enhancements of DTS transcoding (which is causing this issue). All 4k HDR movies in combination with DTS (DTS-HD-MA, DTS-HD-RA) tracks are not correctly encoded to AAC and hence produce huge artifacts. 1080p movies are all fine. How is this possible? Pretty please give us at least a timeline or any kind of information about when those issues with LG TVs will be fixed

i think the problem is with the Plex app itself.
