The new update broke subtitles, they just don’t appear, movies or tv shows, external srt, downloaded.
With some testing it would appear that it sometimes will appear after 5 min but this doesn’t always happen. Depending how it is tested it will show strange behaviour but mostly it wont appear…
My srt files are mostly external but some are internal. The video files vary between mp4 and MKV.
Well, in one hand I’m relieved to see that I’m not the only one who have this issue, but in the other hand, I really hope this issue will disappear with a fast release of an update…
I was going to create a new thread, but decided to post my experience here instead.
I too have this issue with the client version 5.44.3 (which fixed DV on LG OLED65C7D, thank you again!). The subtitles stopped working (srt, mov_text, etc…) with this version.
I have the same issue on LG OLED 65C12, the subtitles appear in the beginning and disappear after a few minutes or so… When I stop the video and continue where I left off it appears again for a short time.
Something similar start happening with Samsung Tizen OS too…since last weekend external subtitles began to fade out after a couple of minutes 15-20minutes its really random…sometimes it will fade out only by the end sometimes fade out 3/4x and you need to rewind 10sec to make the subtitles show properly again…
Edit: Just a note, the error only happens with external subs, if the srt is muxed in the mkv it will work just fine.
I have same issue on my LG 43UH650V-ZB plex client. It was working well until I updated plex-server to 1.28.1.6104. I was on a few previous version before.
I thought there is no reason to create new ticket/topic since there is a lot of same topic for same bug. Please fix this issue guys I can provide any log or information if required.
Same issue on a LG B7P.
I also have XPlay, and the subtitles are working there.
Uninstalled Plex app and reinstalled it. Updated my Plex Server. Didn’t work.
Thanks.
I also have issues with subtitles on both my smart tvs.
On the LG UK6950 all PGS subtitles are missing unless I switch to “Always burn-in” both for -
Some older movie with two audio tracks (English and my native) and a single subtitles track which I know have worked before
A newely added blu-ray with two audio tracks (English and native) and with two subtitles tracks (native - forced and native).
On the Samsung QN90A the old movie’s PGS subtitles are shown, but the new one are not shown unless I switch to “Always burn-in”, without “Always burn-in” sometimes right after a forced line would have been shown I might see a line of the selected subtitle track
Both my android phone and the Windows app shows the selected subtitles for both without issues
Some additional info, the subtitles don’t appear to be loading in after 5 minutes it’s just that they don’t appear before ~5 minutes. Whenever I skip forward a bit right after starting an episode the subtitle instantly appear from that point on (and not before that point)
