For Synology DS218+ any solutions ? Have the same problem but the link with the download is not for intel 64-bit

I download the macos version through the updated link. It seems the issue with subtitles is over.

Thank you very much.

Issue resolved here, running Plex on an Ubuntu LTS 18.04 VM, media on CIFS share, streaming MKV’s with subs to a Chromecast. Before, subs were hit and miss, now perfect

Windows 10 Pro: running plex Version 1.17.1.1786: running, SRT subtitles, SRT (External) subtitles and VOBSUB (External) Subtitles. All seem to work much better now and will stay on screen instead of disappearing after a minute or so. I tried to break it by pausing for a few minutes then resuming, and I also tried skipping forward or backwards various amounts of time and the subs kept playing. Might have been a coincidence, but the SRTs were much happier skipping around than the VOBSUBS which seems to take a lot longer to start playing after skipping. Like I said, might be due to something unrelated. The biggest issue I’ve had is resolved now though. Thanks dev(s). hugs

Thank you!! This fixed the issue for me.

After almost a week of testing the new build, this issue ā€œFixes for high CPU usage when transcoding subtitlesā€ is still there
If during playing I am changing subtitle from one language to another from time to time I receive something like ā€œHigh CPU usage cannot transcode.ā€. Most of the time I play mkv in 720p format and very rare in 1080p
I have to restart Plex server in order to be able to play again the movie
Using Plex server with Synology 218+
The subtitle issue itself with appearing and disappearing I confirm is fixed
Thanks

Just to be sure, the new beta 1.18.0.1846 includes the fixes?

The new Plex Media Server Beta 1.18.0.1846 contains all the subtitle fixes(and more) from the previous preview build shared in this forum.

Please feel free to upgrade.

But when will the clients have support for ASS subtitles without transcoding? this is a huge issue that works on competitor softwares.

Just go to video option and switch subtitles burn to: Only image formats.

it has issues where it skips the subtitles every so often

I believe you have encountered a limitation of your player. Many devices are not designed to deal with image format subtitles. This is why SRT is most common. The skipping subs part seems like a thing that can be fixed. Do you have a separate topic for that skipping while burn?

Thank you sir

Yea i’ve heard many saying that yet vlc, mpc, emby support ass direct play.

I was wrong. ASS subs are not image format. They are text based but more complex than SRT. Because of that, I still think they should be playable, and I’m looking forward to some topics where we can debug it properly. Ping me when you make one.
