Subtitles stopped being displayed overnight

Hello,

I installed Plex a few days ago now. I’ve been using it for a few days without any problem… then today, subtitles stopped being displayed on top of the video.

All the subtitles are still available in the subtitle selection menu, I can choose them all. But they are NOT visible. I tried different format, languages, etc - also changed the color, size, position… doesn’t solve the problem.

Nothing changed in my library since yesterday. Everything is still the same. Some .srt files have been added for some shows or movies, that’s all.

When I look at the browser console, I can see that :

[Subtitles] loading subtitles. position: 0 url: https://[REDACTED]/video/:/transcode/universal/subtitles…-Screen-Resolution=958x453%2C1920x1080&X-Plex-Token=REDACTED REDACTED
[Subtitles] Aborting existing xhr.

Thes “Aborting existing xhr” seems suspicious.

EDIT: some more info after some research. Maybe the subtitles were burned in before because the video was transcoded into another smaller bitrate ? If I force the burn-in of subtitles, I see them… but I find this solution quite ugly. I’d prefer subtitles to be handled by the player in my browser, not to be affected by video quality (and I guess allow to change track without reloading the already buffered video).
How exactly does this transcoding work ? Can I disable it/choose to stream the media in the original format on demand ?

Still no answer after 2 days. Bump ?
