Ive added my father in law to my plex server. For some reason my father in law cant download subtitles, the searching returns zero results. When I do the exact procedure I do get search results. We’re both on android and on the same WiFi. If i download the subtitle my father in law also doesn’t see it.

My plex server is running on Ubuntu bionic with PMS 4.41.1. Video streaming works fine.
That part is correct. Subtitles found this way are only available to the user that did the search. These are temporary for that user. If you want them available to everyone, you’ll need to add them manually or activate the opensubtitle option on your server when adding content.
I don’t know why your father’s device gets 0 results. I’ll need to see the logs from the app after recreating the problem.
