I really miss that plex automatically downloads the right subtitles… i find i really annoying when watching a serie that i need to sears the right subs for every episode.
Why is this function gone?
And how can i add subtitles to movies that are “on plex” (not my library)?
I suppose the automatic subtitle download was never a feature of Plex but a 3rd party agent that worked with the legacy agents of Plex (but no longer with the current-generation ones).
You cannot add subtitles to the online media sources.

Not really.
The old agents were built to support “complementary agents” (=agents adding some metadata or here: subtitles to the mix). This allowed users to add custom agents like the one for opensubtitles.org.
The new Plex agents no longer offer that option.
Compare it to the time when notebooks no longer had built-in optical disc drives… your discs (opensubtitles.org) are still good… your new notebook simply doesn’t have the capability to deal with them. Now… with optical discs you still had the option to buy an external drive… no such option with Plex and your agents.
Well thats a shame!
That was one of the upsides of Plex…
