My Windows Plex player has always flickered on my new 2k 165hz monitor. It is not just content being watched, but the entire player as soon as it opens. This is the only app I have that does this and unfortunately it makes the player unusable. For now I always use the Plex website to stream my content on my computer but that causes transcoding. Is there any fix for this?
Have you tried toggling the “Use Hardware Decoding” setting?
Settings → Plex for Windows → Player → Use Hardware Decoding
Hardware decoding may improve video playback performance. Disable this setting if you encounter unexpected playback problems.
Edit: Since v1.26, the app supports using a mpv.conf file. This may let you fine tune the app to work with your display.

u/AWildGodAppeared’s comment on https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/nibh7o/plex_player_for_windows_ui_lag/ fixed my issue. Limiting the FPS in the Nvidia control panel produces no noticeable flickers anymore as far as I can tell.
