Let me preface all of this by saying that I am EXTREMELY tech-illiterate, which is probably why I’m having so much trouble finding answers about this! All the posts about this that I’ve found are full of complicated terminology that’s above my paygrade! All explanations are gonna have to be reeeeal dumbed down for me; I thank you in advance for your patience.
Okay, so I have a Plex Media Server set up on my desktop computer (an iMac), and it’s been great. I have the Plex app on my Macbook Air laptop, my phone, and on my Roku TV. These are all directly connected to my WiFi, and it’s been going perfectly fine so far. But really suddenly (as in, everything was fine on Saturday but on Tuesday it’s kaput), none of the apps can seem to play my files higher than 360p or 480p.
Things I’ve already tried:
- Rebooting my desktop
- Making sure I have the latest version of Plex Media Server
- Making sure my Plex apps on various devices are updated
- Disconnecting and reconnecting my WiFi
- Deleting my libraries and setting them up again
- Turning off the VPN on my desktop (no effect whether it’s on or off)
The Troubleshooting Remote Access page hasn’t been much help to me, I’m afraid. I’m not trying to access my server from outside my network! At least I don’t think I am! All these devices are on the same WiFi, right???
Please help!
