Actually insane that it’s been 3 years with no official response on whether this feature is even planned to be implemented or not. Any sort of response would be appreciated here Plex devs, now that the API’s of TVDB and TMDB both have supported getting these alternate orders for a while now.
Plex don’t comment on their roadmap or ETAs for features. Usually they only comment on feature suggestions if they’re not clear.
The new season of Animaniacs has reminded me again just how much I need this feature added…
Eesh, just encountered this issue with (the dreaded) Animaniacs. I’m just sticking everything into a playlist along with other cartoons, so having the correct metadata per episode is not absolutely required, but knowing that this is screwed up on my server still bothers me.
The way TVDB organises shows like this is straight up incorrect, I don’t care what bonehead policy they have. But they do offer a solution with an alternate order and it’s a little baffling that we’re still waiting on Plex to offer it in the UI. Especially as it looks like a 15 minute job. Not sure whether its a result of ongoing project politics with TVDB or just another example of Plex not wanting to spend any developer time on PMS stuff that isn’t a hand-me-down from their streaming offerings.
Either way, I guess I’ll use one my extremely valuable and definitely not purely-for-show votes on this one.
It seems crazy that a fundamental feature like correct metadata has gone unfixed for years now. There has to be a good reason why this hasn’t been added.
I feel like a good coder could bang this one out in like a half hour. Definitely one of my most desired features, fingers crossed.
Please!
really would like this, it’s been years of people asking for it and you’re already grabbing data from tvdb, just seems like you could simply add the option in the drop down list…
Need this for Looney Tunes Cartoons
I desperately need this feature as most of my library IS older cartoons, especially Animaniacs as previously mentioned. It’s absolutely maddening and the fact that Plex has not implemented this is quite frustrating.
Bump, it’s been 3 years, RIP the Disenchantment sorting ![]()
It would be better still if an individual user could specify the episode order that suits him, regardless of whether it suits anyone else. This especially applies to TV shows from the Sixties and Seventies, when all the episodes were standalones and, with rare exceptions, didn’t even try to fit into a story arc.
The Office (US) is never right with the split episodes. I need the ‘Amazon’ or ‘Netflix’ order from TVDB.
The Office, Spongebob and Animaniacs are all in need of the alternate order from TVDB. C’mon Plex, when are you going to add this? ![]()
I’ve had Money Heist sitting on my file system for months. I don’t even want to deal with it
im still waiting for them to add the other orders from tmdb other then aired, one of my shows gundam seed and gundam seed destiny are under one show as seasons on tmdb but its the remastered version which means i need to use the dvd order but plex doesnt support. and if i use tvdb ordering thats screwed because tvdb has them both as sperate shows so either i use plex series scanner and have no metadata for the 2nd season or run the old scanner still which still runs but for some reason is a million times slower to get the data then it use to be
Plex supports tvdb dvd order
It’d be great to have an official word on whether or not support for TVDB’s “Alternate Order” is coming to Plex. If it’s not on the roadmap, then I might as well look into alternatives to Plex.
I want to add my support for this feature. As somebody with a lot of children’s shows on his server, I really need access to the “combined order” that has replaced DVD order on most of these shows.
TVDB is no longer calling all of their alternate orders “dvd order.”
