Support for Audiobooks?

Hello, 

 

So is there a way to get plex to support Audiobooks? or if the Plex team would like to implement this feature. It would also give me more incentive to get plex pass.

 

All my audiobooks are M4b format (apple audiobook format) and they currently do not play in plex when i add them to the music category. Does anyone have any information on how i can get them working?

Try renaming them to .M4a - keep in mind that plex doesnt remember your playback position... :( 

Anyways: +1 for AudioBook support - highly requested by many users!

Don’t forget iTunes audiobooks have DRM.

I also have mine in m4b format since that's the format that iTunes uses for audiobooks (and for iTunes to remember playback position).

I can play my audiobooks via the "iTunes audio" channel and then in the Audiobooks section.  However, as tfBullet pointed out, Plex does not remember the playback position even though iTunes does with this format.

I would really like Plex to be adjusted so that it remembers the playback position as you would except given this format that is designed to remember the position.  Plex seems to remember the position in movies and TV shows, so why not audiobooks?  It's pointless to attempt to listen to audiobooks without this required feature.  

I love the ability to listen to audio through Plex without actually installing them on my iOS device (always short on space), but it's impossible to do this with Audiobooks without this "remember playback" feature.

+1 for audiobook support.  I don't use m4b files, but the playback position feature would be essential for audiobooks.

+1 mainly because PLEX could soon be my only media player.

+1 Plex to have a specific Audio flag for Audiobooks to remember playback position.

Gapless playback would also be somewhat important.  Sometimes the transition between tracks introduces a noticeable delay.  I have a few audiobooks that have background music during, say, chapter breaks, and the playback gaps are audible.

+1 as well.  The playback position option would be very nice.  The music side needs some work but an audio book option would be fantastic.  I already use it for my books but it can be a pain sometimes.

Oops, sorry.  I didn't notice you weren't a PlexPass member. 

There are several people (myself included) asking for audiobook support, so we may see it eventually.

Seriously I’m surprised this hasn’t been implemented already. I would drop the cash for a lifetime membership TODAY if I could get my hands on this feature. Been waiting over a year for it already.
