I’ve set up a CA on my home network so all the misc. services I have set up can use SSL without the usual browser warnings. Plex is the one left that I can’t figure out. I’ve tried to follow some directions I found on Google but most of them were old and none got things working.
Is there a known good solution for replacing Plex’s self-signed certificate with one generated by my local CA?
Plex doesn’t even use a “self”-signed cert. Plex’s cert will not produce a browser warning.
It has a fully-grown, officially trusted certificate and it equips your server with a trusted cert of its own. This cert is ‘pinned’ to the FQDN, which your server also gets assigned automatically.
Thanks for the help! Sorry it took so long to accept answers. I thought I’d configured things to notify me when there were responses but apparently not. @OttoKerner I’ll have a look through that article and see if I can figure out what I need to do.
Edit: based on that article, it looks like I need to be accessing my server via app.plex.tv instead of directly like I have been (discussed in the “Using the Bundled Plex Web App” section). Accessing it that way works fine. Thanks again!
