Sync seems to be partially broken for me. On my PMS on my PC under the Sync menu option nothing shows as being synced d to my wife’s Android phone. " Nothing is synced to this device". But there are 5 movies on her phone.
For my kid’s iPad Sync shows only one of 4 movies.
What gives?
What kind of Sync menu are you talking about?
I don’t know of such a menu in Plex on PC.
That is an old menu. Back from when it was possible to trigger a sync to e.g. an Android phone from the web app.
The server would then keep track of the synced items.
However, that sophisticated system had also its flaws. It was never as reliable as users expected, nor very performant.
Hence it was replaced by a new system, which is simpler. A side effect of this simplicity is that you cannot keep track of synced items on the server, nor can you trigger syncs from the web app anymore.
So this menu item doesn’t show anything anymore, if the client app has already been converted to the new sync system.
So the only way to sync something now is from the end device (phone, ipad, etc) correct? Why is this sync menu still showing up if it’s no longer supported?
Because there might be still clients which use the old system.
