I recently (like, 10 minutes ago) upgraded to Plex Pass so that I can sync flac files from my home server to my work laptop (Windows). I’ve excitedly restarted the app, ready to sync some audio files but only have the option to sync at 320kbps or slower. This is really disappointing and pretty much renders my Plex Pass useless. I’ve done a bit of searching and run into people seeing the same issue but in old threads. This does however appear to be possible on Android.
Is there something I’m missing or is this not possible? If it isn’t possible, is it in the pipeline?
Same here. If it’s possible to sync flac with the android app, it should be possible with the desktop client as well but unfortunately it’s not which makes it very unconvenient to sync music from desktop to mobile because I then have to look up the same album/tracks again on mobile.
@novacav I believe you can sync it, but you must kick it off from the device.
From the link I posted:
You are correct. Web can’t tell if the device supports flac so it doesn’t give that option. You will need to initiate sync from the mobile client if you want the FLAC file.
Hi, just bumping this. Trying to get my head round this and looking for some clarity!
So I have been syncing my library flac files to my iPhone but have chosen ‘original’ in the advanced quality settings, in the hope of actually having the flac files offline in the iOS app (I am aware of iOS having support issues natively with Flac, but I already use a separate app in iOS to play them). While I was syncing I did notice the optimisation process happening, but when I looked at optimised versions there was nothing.
Now, I can’t find how to tell what format and bitrate the synced music files are on my iPhone. Should I look in the logs? I can of course use my ears! Looking in the resources have only helped me so far because many of the instructions seem to refer to old versions of the web app.
